Duties before Mass
- Upon arrival the server should dress in the alb and cincture
- Server should talk with coordinator and/or sacristan to be updated on anything special (Baptisms, special blessings) that will be occurring at Mass
- No less than five minutes to mass time a server should light all appropriate candles.
- Altar server should then proceed to back of church to be ready to process
Duties during Mass
- ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE
- assist the priest with holding the book for prayers
- set the altar at the correct time
- clean up after Communion
- set out the announcements after Communion
Duties after Mass
- return the processional cross to the sanctuary
- extinguish the candles
- assist in any other way you can to clean up
