About Us

St. Augustine Church and Catholic Student Center is a non-territorial, multi-cultural parish community of students, faculty, staff, and families of the Gainesville community, the University of Florida, and Santa Fe College. We are blessed by the richness of our ethnic diversity.

The active presence of students and families in the parish strengthens the values of Christian family life for the whole community. The students enrich the community with youth, service, ministry, and energy. Households of families with children and other adults are integral and essential parts of the campus ministry. They nourish and support the life of a Christian community and provide an atmosphere of home for students who are away from their families.

Worship is the center of all of our endeavors as a parish and from it flows the impetus for other activities. A pastoral team of priests and professional lay ministers work in close collaboration with support staff and volunteer leaders to witness, lead, form, and serve.

It is our expectation that as students and families experience the riches of God and of their faith they may grow as followers of Christ. As students and professionals leave the student center, they are sent forth to continue to be witnesses of Christ in the world and to strengthen the Christian communities of the Catholic Church.
