Catholic Charities and Respite
Catholic Charities provides a variety of services to anyone in need:
- Emergency Assistance for those in need of food, medication, or help with utilities/rent.
- Counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Counseling and support for teenagers and adults facing unplanned pregnancies.
- A licensed Adoption Agency offering home studies, placement reports, and counseling.
- The FAITHH Van (Food and Intersession for the Hungry and Homeless), a mobile food outreach for those in remote rural areas in and around Alachua County. (For more information, or to volunteer with the FAITHH Van, contact Debbie Long at 352-372-0294 ext. 20.)
The Respite and Friendly Visitors programs provide disabled or elderly people with friendship and assistance, as well as giving respite (a much needed break) to their care-givers. For more information or to volunteer, contact Linda Gardner at Catholic Charities (352-372-0294 ext. 49).
